DotyCoyote.com is hosted by Hostway in Chicago and maintained by Thomas Doty in southern Oregon. The website contains over a thousand pages and each page validates as HTML 4.01 Transitional using W3C standards. CSS validates as well. DotyCoyote.com does not use Flash.

The website uses JavaScript for Slide Shows, Refresh links, and to display some photos. Media is streamed using .mp3 files for audio, and Quicktime .mov and .mp4 files for video. The Library search engine is powered by FreeFind, website "hits" are counted by StatCounter, and online financial transactions are handled securely by PayPal. Doty is "PayPal Verified."

The website was created in 1997 on a Macintosh computer and is currently maintained by Doty on a MacBook Pro using the following applications: Taco HTML Edit for page editing, Fetch for FTP, iPhoto and GraphicConverter for editing photos and drawings, Pages for creating .pdf files and eBooks, iTunes and GarageBand for editing audio files, iMovie for editing video files and MailChimp for generating newsletters. When Doty's on the road, he uses his iPhone to update the News and Journal pages.
