1943: Mom in Bubble Bath

My mother Fredene Ama Doty in a bubble bath in Medford, Oregon in 1943. She had these photos taken to send to her new husband Shirrel Rodgers Doty, my father, while he was serving in the Marines in the South Pacific during World War II. As I was growing up, the photos sat on the top of our piano among little white statues of Chopin and Beethoven and Bach, and were the source of many speculative stories at family gatherings. Even today, when I sit down at my piano, I see my mother winking at my father.
